Steve Grogan made a wild throw as he often did and Stingley was in a vulnerable position and got nailed by jack tatum. The thing that makes tatum in my opinion the dirtiest athlete of all time (and it takes a special effort to oust Bobby Clarke and Bryan Marchment from that position) was the way he handled it. You could tell he didn't really care. His coach John Madden cared but he didn't. To make himself appear human "The assasin" appeared at the hospital but I guarantee you he was not the least bit upset when Darryl Stingley's family would not let him see Stingley. I guarantee you he was relieved and forgot all about it after that. Anyone else would have said how sorry they were about Stingley having to spend the rest of his "life" as a quadriplegic. jack wouldn't think of anyone but his self you see. jack kept saying why should I apologize I didn't do nothing wrong. I always recall a play in tatum's last year in Houston when he intercepted a pass (a rarity for him as it meant good ol jack had to get hit and jack didn't much like that)He made a beeline for the sideline and a lineman for the Steelers speared him at least 5 yards out of bounds. Unfortunately jack got up. I understand that jack is now doing work for diabetes. I guess jack does care about others after all. what? oh what's that you say? good ol jack has diabetes. I never would have guessed that. I thought jack was just caring about his fellow man but he's just caring bout hisself again. as I read in another blog good ol jack has had part of his legs amputated. The other blogger said what goes around comes around. Let's hope it keeps on comin. <BR/>Rest in peace Darryl.
